Hon'ble CM congrats Kathlal voters for historic win over Congress

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendrabhai Modi today congratulated the voters of Kathlal for the Bharatiya’s Janata Party’s historic victory in the Assembly bye-election. He accepted it as a gift coinciding with his birthday today.

Describing the victory as the electorates’ tremendous support to the BJP Government’s development policies in Gujarat, he said, it was a resounding slap on the Congress’ vote-bank politics, on the misuse of the Election Commission, on the party’s Gujarat-bashing, and on the Congress-CBI joint conspiracy to defeat BJP in the state.

Shri Modi said it was for the first time in the state’s 50 years’ history that the BJP snatched the Kathlal seat from what is considered to be a stronghold of the Congress.

In the last Assembly General Election in 2009 too, he recalled, the Congress candidate had won the seat defeating his nearest BJP rival by a margin of 13,000 votes.

The Assembly constituency was considered to be a citadel of the sitting Union Minister of State Dinsha Patel, besides the influence of another Union Minister of State Bharat Solanki and his father Madhavsinh Solanki.

Shri Modi pointed out how the Congress tried to misuse the Election Commission, demanded re-polling in seven booths, which resulted in loss of 300 more votes for the Congress. The result shows that even the Muslim voted against the pseudo secularism of the Congress, casting 65 per cent of votes in favour of the BJP and upholding the high traditions of democracy.
