Ahmedabad, Monday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is leaving here Tuesday on a five-day visit to China on the invitation of Chinese Government.
The invitation was personally handed over to the Chief Minister by the Chinese Government’s Vice-Minister.
He will be accompanied by about 20 industrialists and businessmen from different sectors. The way Gujarat has emerged as the growth engine of India’s fast developing economy in Asia, the invitation should open up new horizons of mutual relations in economic, infrastructural and industrial development between Gujarat and China.
The Chief Minister’s meeting with the Chinese Government and senior functionaries of the Communist Party of China, scheduled to be held in the capital of China in Beijing, shows the latter’s keenness to do business with a progressive State of India like Gujarat.
The two governments are scheduled to explore the possibility of building mutual relations during the visit in different fields like manufacturing, automobile engineering, port development, information and communication technology. The business delegation from Gujarat would also explore similar possibility in the private sector over a series of meetings with their Chinese counterparts.
Besides Beijing, Mr. Modi is scheduled to visit China’s premier city of Shanghai and port cities to see firsthand the development and hold meeting with mayors.
Meanwhile, China’s famous telecom company Huawei has evinced interest to invest in Gujarat and has invited Mr. Modi to visit its research and development centre there.
