CM presents ‘Tarun-Kranti Puraskar’ to Baba Ramdev, Vijay Darda and JITO

In a function organized by Jain community in Ahmedabad today Chief Minister Narendra Modi sternly criticized Congress-led central government for encouraging and aiding the meat export and the slaughtering of cow-progeny in a bid to make India a top meat exporting country.

Mr. Modi was speaking at the function held on the occasion of
chaturmas of Jain Digambar muni Tarun Sagarji. During the function, Chief Minister presented ‘tranu-kranti pursakar’ to yog-guru Baba Ramdev, Vijay Darda of Lokmat Patrika group and Jain International Trade Organization (JITO).

Referring to the website of Food Processing Ministry Mr. Modi said the central government is officially promoting cow slaughter. “It has come up with a policy to give Rs.15 crore subsidy for the modernization of abattoirs. The Congress-led central government yearns for making India a top meat-exporting country in 2012. There is a whole network for illegal exporting of cow beef and milch animals via Bangladesh to the foreign slaughterhouses. This will subvert our Indian culture”, he said.

Gujarat gave birth to ‘white revolution’ in the form of milk and cotton production. The states like Punjab and Haryana gave birth to ‘green revolution’ in the form of agricultural production. And now the Congress-led UPA government desires to encourage slaughtering of cow-progeny and meat export under a beautiful name of ‘pink revolution’. This is completely against India’s cultural values, he said.

Mr. Modi said that today when the saints and religious leaders are out to guide people for coming out of various issues our country and society is facing, it is unfortunate that some forces with corrupt mentality abuse these saintly figures. It is only because of these saints the Indian culture is preserved. “People must beware of those who are corrupting polity with undemocratic means under the veil of democracy”, he said.

Chief Minister described Tarun Sagar maharaj as ‘krantivir’ and Baba Ramdev as a ‘guide of young generation’. Mr. Vijay Dorda, despite being in Congress party, termed Mr. Narendra Modi as ‘sher’ (The Lion).

Speaking on the occasion Baba Ramdev appealed people to give highest importance to
rashtra dharma and to work for the good of their country. “Only the one who performs his
rashtra dharma is a true saint”, he said.

Tarun Sagar maharaj said the kind of progress Gujarat made under the reign of Mr. Modi is nowhere seen in any other state of India. He called upon people to adopt the ethos of Indian culture.

Jain leaders felicitated the Chief Minister on the occasion.
