On the morning of Sunday 7th October 2012 Shri Narendra Modi addressed Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra in Uchchhal, Tapi District. He spoke about the development initiatives in Gujarat over the last decade, especially in the Tribal belt from Umargam to Ambaji. Shri Modi said he remembered coming to Uchchhal when he was working for the party organization and thanked the people for their very warm welcome.

Shri Modi recalled that there was a time when the people of Uchchhal had to travel all the way to Surat with their grievances but his Government ended this and people now go to Vyara for the same.

The Chief Minister recalled another interaction he had with farmers from Uchchhal who told him that they went to Finland to learn latest technology in cultivating bananas and now the farmers from this area are sending bananas all over the world!

Speaking about the success of the 108 services in Gujarat, Shri Modi said that people from neighboring villages of Maharashtra too requested if the 108 service can help them when in need.

Shri Modi spoke about the political stability in Gujarat over the last decade and said that while Maharashtra has seen periodic change in Governments, it has not happened in Gujarat for 11 years. He recalled his oath taking as Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time on this day in 2001. Shri Modi is the longest serving Chief Minister in the history of Gujarat.

In his speech Shri Modi affirmed that the Congress has always been giving false promises to the people. He said that the Congress ruled for 50 years but still they could not create education facilities to study science for Tribal communities. On the other hand there has been a paradigm shift in the development activates in the Tribal stretch from Umargam to Ambaji in the last decade and this stretch is now producing pilots, scientists etc. as well.

The Chief Minister stated that Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi visited Rajkot but failed to say a word on the rising prices that is adversely affecting the common man.

Shri Modi concluded his speech by recalling the promises he made when he took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. He had promised that he will continue to work very hard for the people of Gujarat and would provide an administration and development works that will make the 6 crore people of Gujarat raise their heads with immense pride. As he enters his 12th consecutive year in the service of the people of Gujarat, Shri Modi said that he has not only lived by these promises but also will continue to do so in the future.

Senior BJP leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Gopinath Munde was present at the Yatra and addressed the gathering and said that Shri Modi is the most popular Chief Minister in this country. BJP National Vice President Shri Purushottam Rupala addressed the gathering as well.

A massive number of people gathered on the occasion to support the Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra and support Shri Modi.
