Seema Chintan Desai, a parent from Navsari, Gujarat, asked PMModi about how society can contribute towards the upliftment of rural girls. To this, PM Modi replied that situation of girls has improved a lot compared to earlier times when girl education was ignored. He stressed that no society can improve without ensuring proper education of the girls.
PM Modi said, “No discrimination between boys and girls is necessity of this age.” He gave examples of daughters of India such as Ahilyabai Holkar and Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmibai.
Further, PM Modi said, “Every Indian would be proud of aspirations of daughters of India today. He said that the opportunities and empowerment of daughters should be institutionalised. Daughters of India are shining in the many fields such as sports, science and academics. Today girls have become an asset for families. Respect for education of girls can also be observed in the society.”
Highlighting the increasing role of women in society, PM Modi said, “Women are increasingly becoming elected representatives of people in Panchayati Raj Institutions.In the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, India has the maximum number of Members of Parliament in the history of independent India.”
