On Thursday 25th April 2013, the Gujarat Government’s SWAGAT initiative (State Wide Attention on Grievances by Application of Technology) completed 10 years in service of the people of Gujarat. Shri Narendra Modi said that SWAGAT initiative has emerged as a ray of hope for the common people who seek redressal of their various grievances.

The SWAGAT initiative has won several awards including the United Nations Public Service Award and several national awards. On the 4th Thursday of every month, Shri Narendra Modi joins the SWAGAT sessions and hears grievances of the people. This practice has been going on since 24th April 2003. Various officials including of the district from where the grievance has come join the session.

SWAGAT at the district level with the respective Collectors had also commenced from the same day ten years ago. On 1st January 2008 Taluka SWAGAT online began and after its success the Gram SWAGAT commenced in February 2011.

Through the last decade, the SWAGAT online sessions with the Chief Minister drew 2,80,754 grievances and questions from the people and 90.44% of them were resolved. The remaining issues were related to policy matters and matters of long term public interest.

Shri Narendra Modi participated in the SWAGAT session today as well. At the SWAGAT online session the Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri AK Sharma, senior officials Shri JP Modha, Shri Chandresh Kotak and others were present on the occasion.
