BJP President Shri Rajnath Singh launched the book ‘Moditva – the Idea behind the Man’ on the evening of 25th February, 2014, in Delhi. The book was launched in English, Hindi and Gujarati.

‘Moditva – the Idea behind the Man’ attempts to sum up Shri Modi’s ideas and put them cohesively for public understanding, predominantly the youth population and first time voters to help them make an informed choice. Published by Navbharat Sahitya Mandir, Ahmedabad (Gujarati and English editions) and Prabhat Prakashan, Delhi (Hindi edition), the book is an attempt to analyze, evaluate and explain the vision of Shri Narendra Modi. It is a collection of 14 short essays drawn from the quotes of Mr. Narendra Modi on critical challenges facing the country such as economy, governance, education etc. Each essay establishes an ancient Indian connect to each quote, and every idea presented in the book is validated by a successful international and domestic example.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rajnath Singh attributed Shri Narendra Modi as being an ‘idea and a phenomenon’ and stated of his deep association with Shri Modi that went back to the year 2001 when Shri Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat. While speaking on Shri Modi’s early years as an RSS supporter, Shri Rajnath Singh said that anyone who became an RSS Pracharak never dreamt of gaining power, but instead only focussed on making a strong India that would lead in every sphere.

He spoke of the misgovernance witnessed across the Nation under the Central government and highlighted how their adoption of Votebank politics and practise of the ‘Divide and Rule’ policy was ruining the nation. “Sadly there has been maximum government and minimum governance in the nation,” said Shri Singh.

Drawing the audiences’ attention to the many communal riots that have happened in India under the Congress rule, Shri Rajnath Singh emphasized on how Gujarat, on the other hand, had become the model state for development in India, under Shri Modi’s visionary leadership. There is (good) governance in Gujarat, and common people have been empowered,” said Shri Singh. He also applauded the massive crowds witnessed at the ongoing BJP rallies across the Nation and said that this tremendous show of support from the people of India only reinforced the success of the pro-people governance model adopted by Shri Narendra Modi.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP leader and former Union Minister Dr. Subramanian Swamy described Moditva as Modiness or the distinctiveness of being Narendra Modi. Dr. Swamy pointed that people all over the world have accepted that Shri Narendra Modi has a high probability of being the Prime Minister. Dr. Swamy affirmed that Shri Modi has articulated in practical terms what Deen Dayal Upadhyay ji talked about as ‘Integral Humanism.’

Noted journalist and commentrator Shri MJ Akbar recalled what Shri Modi has said during his speech in Patna, that Hindus and Muslims should decide whether they want to fight each other or they want to fight poverty. Shri Akbar remarked that onions and potatoes do not have any religion and neither do blood, sweat, water and industry. He added that it is the right of every Indian to get the right opportunity.

Former IPS officer Dr. Kiran Bedi listed a few ‘cannots’ and ‘cans’ for Shri Modi when he becomes the PM. She stressed on appointing the right kind of officials and the need for MPs to behave properly, recalling the fiasco in Parliament in the last few weeks. She said that a long time ago she had made it clear that her vote is for Shri Narendra Modi because in a time when things are getting very chaotic, there is need for order, peace and discipline. She affirmed that the nation has high hopes and that hopefully the nation will move from stagnation to development.

Leading economist Prof Bibek Debroy and senior journalist and analyst Shri. Swapan Dasgupta joined the others in initiating a discussion and dialogue on the vision of Shri Narendra Modi. The discussion was chaired by Mr. MJ Akbar.

‘Moditva – the Idea behind the Man’ is edited and compiled by Citizens for Accountable Governance, which is a youth professional body with over 2,00,000  onground volunteers trying to shape public discourse in India.
