State celebrates 63rd R-day at Bhavnagar

The Governor Dr. Shrimati Kamlaji unfurls national flag in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, takes salute of march past

The celebration of 63rd Republic Day in the state was marked by the unfurling of tricolour, the march past and various cultural programmes.

In the state-level flag hoisting programme at Bhavnagar, the Governor Dr. Shrimati Kamlaji unfurled the national flag at 9 a.m. in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The march past had 22 platoons including SRP jawans, police force, women police, traffic police, coastal guards and NCC jawans. In all, more than 650 jawans took part in the march past and gave salute to the tricolour.

Daredevils Motor cycle stunt show and the march past of Chetak commandos in black uniform attracted every one’s attention. About 2500 students of Bhavnagar’s government schools performed Surya Namaskar and other yogasanas. The youths of police families presented folksongs and ras-garba with the fusion of western music. The dog-show and the horse-show also got huge applause from the people.

The procession of tableaux of different departments of state government also became centre of attraction for the people.

While the Chetak commando force won the first prize in march past, the police band got the second and the platoon of Raksha Shakti University got the third prize. For the presentation of tableaux, Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojna of Tribal development department won the first prize while the Swami Vivekananda tableaux of Youth and cultural activities department won second and the skill development centre tableaux of cottage industries department won third prize.

PM Modi meets the Amir of Kuwait

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met today with the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. This was the first meeting between the two leaders. On arrival at the Bayan Palace, he was given a ceremonial welcome and received by His Highness Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait.

The leaders recalled the strong historical and friendly ties between the two countries and re-affirmed their full commitment to further expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation. In this context, they agreed to elevate the bilateral relationship to a ‘Strategic Partnership’.

Prime Minister thanked His Highness the Amir for ensuring the well-being of over one million strong Indian community in Kuwait. His Highness the Amir expressed appreciation for the contribution of the large and vibrant Indian community in Kuwait’s development.

Prime Minister appreciated the new initiatives being undertaken by Kuwait to fulfill its Vision 2035 and congratulated His Highness the Amir for successful holding of the GCC Summit earlier this month. Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude for inviting him yesterday as a ‘Guest of Honour’ at the opening ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup. His Highness the Amir reciprocated Prime Minister’s sentiments and expressed appreciation for India's role as a valued partner in Kuwait and the Gulf region. His Highness the Amir looked forward to greater role and contribution of India towards realisation of Kuwait Vision 2035.
