PM announces Rs. 1 lakh relief from PMNRF to the next kin of e-rickshaw driver beaten to death in Delhi

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who is on a visit abroad has sanctioned Rs. one lakh from the prime Minister's National Relief fund to the next of kin of the E-rickshaw driver Ravindra Kumar who was beaten to death for stopping two people from urinating in the public in New Delhi. The prime Minister condemned the incident and directed the authorities to bring to book and punish the culprits for committing such inhuman act.

Earlier in the day Urban Development and Information & Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu visited the family of the e-rickshaw driver at GTB Nagar in New Delhi. He also handed over a cheque of Rs. 50,000 from his salary to the family terming the act as condemnable. Shri Naidu said that the culprits must be punished.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid homage today to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in the historic Promenade Gardens in Georgetown, Guyana. He recalled Bapu’s eternal values of peace and non-violence which continue to guide humanity. The statue was installed in commemoration of Gandhiji’s 100th birth anniversary in 1969.

Prime Minister also paid floral tribute at the Arya Samaj monument located close by. This monument was unveiled in 2011 in commemoration of 100 years of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana.
