PM Modi emphasizes on complete modernization of the Railways

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today dedicated to the nation, the rail portion of a newly constructed Rail-cum-Road Bridge at Patna. The event was organized in Hajipur. The Prime Minister also unveiled plaques for the commencement of operation of goods trains on the newly constructed Rail-cum-Road Bridge at Munger, and for the foundation stone of an additional bridge at Mokama, near the Rajendra Pul.


Addressing a large and enthusiastic gathering on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the newly dedicated bridge will improve transportation, and the economic situation of people in the area. He recalled that it was when Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, and the current Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar was the Union Railway Minister, that the foundation stone had been laid for this project.

The Prime Minister emphasized that it was essential for India's eastern states to develop, for the sustainable growth of the entire country. The nerve centre for India's development lies in eastern India, he asserted. He added that if India had to develop, Bihar must develop.

The Prime Minister said that infrastructure, especially roads and railways, sows the seeds of development, and gives pace to progress.

The Prime Minister underlined the need for the complete modernization of the Railways.
