Addressing a public meeting in Baripada, Odisha today, PM Shri Narendra Modi said, “It is a matter of pride for the Bharatiya Janata Party that Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had included the Santhali language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.”

Prime Minister Modi launched a slew of projects worth Rs 4,500 crore for Odisha. He said that he laid foundation stone for 3 major highway projects, dedicated to nation Balasore-Haldia-Durgapur IOCL LPG pipeline at Baripada.

Taking a dig at Congress party, PM Modi said, “The leader of the country's oldest party asks me why Modi greets people with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.” Urging the gathering to chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram', PM Modi highlighted the Congress-led Madhya Pradesh Government’s decision to ban the recital of Vande Mataram. He also talked about the MP government's decision to abolish the pension scheme for ex-servicemen during Emergency.

Shri Modi said, “Today, the country is well aware that how a party has conspired to weaken the army from 2004 to 2014.”

Tearing into Congress, PM Modi raised the issue of middleman of Agusta Westland chopper deal, said that his government had brought Michel to India who served politicians during UPA era and held many secrets.

Hitting out at the ruling party, he remarked that the Central Government had started several schemes for the protection and empowerment of women, the benefits of which Odisha should have got. But it was sad that the government here was not serious about the schemes related to daughters.

Stepping up his criticism of the Odisha government, PM Modi alleged that a delaying decisions have become the identity of the Odisha government resulting in the state's tardy development and slammed the state government for rejecting the Centre's flagship Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme for the poor.

There is a sense of equality and social justice in origin of the schemes which we brought in the last 4 years. The PM spoke at length of several central schemes which are empowering and uplifting the society like – Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana etc.

PM to participate in ‘Odisha Parba 2024’ on 24 November

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the ‘Odisha Parba 2024’ programme on 24 November at around 5:30 PM at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.

Odisha Parba is a flagship event conducted by Odia Samaj, a trust in New Delhi. Through it, they have been engaged in providing valuable support towards preservation and promotion of Odia heritage.
