Bihar’s tremendous scope for growth and development and the region’s potential in contributing to the Nation’s progress was emphasized in Shri Narendra Modi’s speeches at Sasaram and Gaya in Bihar, on the afternoon of 27th March, wherein Shri Modi also assured of the BJP’s unending focus on developing the region.

Attacking the Congress for their Manifesto that repeated the unfulfilled promises made way back in 2004, Shri Modi spoke of how the Central government had destroyed the sanctity of this document and had been misleading the people with false promises, over the years. He stated how the Congress had miserably failed in fulfilling its promises, made way back in 2004, and asked the people to stop their patronage for them. “Those who talk about 21st century were unable to give electricity to the people of Bihar. Congress promised to reduce prices in 2009. Did that happen? No, it only increased. In the last decade was there any change in your lives? Did women safety improve? What is the value of the Government that cannot give you anything,” asked Shri Modi. From inflation and corruption to unemployment and poverty, Shri Modi highlighted how the Congress was unsuccessful in tackling any of these.

Shri Modi asked the Central government to give a record of the work they had done in the past decade, instead of misleading the people with false promises, which include bringing a revolutionary change in the manufacturing segment and creation of jobs through skill development. “When they say they will introduce anti-corruption do you believe them? They have changed the ABC of corruption by getting involved in various scams like the Adarsh, Bofors and Coal scams. The Congress says they will bring back black money but do you believe them? Did you bring a Rupee back in 10 years? The concept of fast track courts was started by Vajpayee ji. In 2011 they stopped giving money for them & now they talk fast track courts. They said they will start rural courts, but sadly in 5 years very few were built. See their track record. It has taken the nation backwards. They keep talking about Rights. The Nation is tired of your acts, the nation needs action,” said Shri Modi, while mentioning how the arrogance of the Congress was so high that it did not feel the need to be answerable to the citizens. “Congress has no right to make false allegations. They have to tell the people what they did for the people,” said Shri Modi.

Attacking the two-faced strategy of the Congress, Shri Modi said that while on one hand the party spoke of secularism and social equality, on the other, it had rejected the candidature of its Baroda candidate simply because he belonged to the Dalit community. “They withdrew ticket from Vadodara not because Modi was contesting but because he is a Dalit. The question is not about who the candidate is, it is about the injustice against Dalits,” said Shri Modi. He questioned that why were the rights of a Dalit taken away, and stated that this was a clear attempt at eroding the democratic set up.

Citing the terrorist attacks in Gaya, the land of Buddha and during the rally in the Patna, Shri Modi spoke that the State Government had not been affected by such painful events, and was only concerned with retaining power and practising votebank politics. “This land of Buddha has blood. The same land that gave message of peace to the world had blood. Sadly the Government here was not bothered about what happened in Gaya. Their sole worry is not to disturb their votebank politics. Let there be bombs, let people die but my chair must remain. This attitude has ruined Bihar and India. There should be no terrorism and terrorists must be punished but can those sitting in Delhi & Patna do this,” questioned Shri Modi. He also added how the terrorist attacks had a damaging impact on the tourism industry of Bihar. “Lakhs of tourists come to Bihar, inspired by Lord Buddha. And tourism gives opportunities to the poorest of the poor. But, after the terror attack, the arrival of tourists has dropped. Who gained? Their chair is saved but the poor lost opportunities. Terrorism divides but tourism unites,” said Shri Modi as he called for the need for an affirmation to end terrorism.

Citing the lack of infrastructure development in Bihar, Shri Modi touched upon the issues of erratic power supply and irregular water supply. He spoke of how the Central government was engrossed in doing scams rather than utilizing the rich coal reserves of the eastern belt in producing electricity. This, he said, had happened inspite of the fact that the Speaker of Lok Sabha Smt. Meira Kumar is a serving MP from Sasaram. He also spoke of how Smt. Meira Kumar had taken a different path, instead of following the footsteps of her father Babu Jagjivan Ram, who had left the Congress and joined Jayaprakash Narayan. He questioned that even if political ideologies differed, wasn’t she responsible to fulfill the dreams of her father, and spoke of how Babu Jagjivanram’s dream of the Durgavati Jalashay for Bihar, so as to ensure regular water supply, was yet not fulfilled.

Addressing the water woes of farmers in Bihar, Shri Modi spoke of how the completion of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s dream of linking rivers, or atleast its initiation, would have benefitted the farmers. “Farmers here are not getting water and are getting troubled. Who is responsible for this? Congress is. Atal ji dreamt of integrating rivers, and had this dream been fulfilled or even made progress on it, then things would be different,” said Shri Modi, even as he stated how the construction of the Kutku dam had been stalled by the Central government, citing environment concerns.

Terming the region as ‘dhaan ka katora’, Shri Modi spoke of how the tireless efforts of the farmers from this region was going down the drain because of the Congress’ insensitive approach towards the poor. He spoke of how the Central government would eagerly announce the Minimum Support Price but not make provision for the purchase of grains or their storage. This, Shri Modi said, had created a situation where the valuable grain produce lay rotten in railway yards, only to be later sold off to liquor producers. Questioning the Congress’ Manifesto, declared yesterday, Shri Modi said, “You take out manifestos for poor but what did you do when SC said give grains to the poor. They gave grains to the alcohol makers.” Shri Modi also addressed how the boost given for liquor manufacturing had destroyed the lives of many in the State and across the country. “A woman is your MP but alcohol is ruining families here. Your MP doesn't have time for you...we can't have such an MP,” stated Shri Modi. As a remedial measure to address the farmers’ concern, Shri Modi suggested the division of the FCI into 3 sections – 1. Purchasing from the farmer at minimum support price 2. Ensuring good storage facilities and 3. Ensuring proper distribution.

Stating that the Bharat Vijay rallies focused on winning over the problems of inflation, corruption, mis-governance, unemployment and dynastic politics, and ensuring welfare of farmers and women, Shri Modi urged the people of Bihar to vote in large numbers and show their support for the BJP. “Seeing this rally I can say that the days of Bharat Vijay are here,” said Shri Modi.

Applauding the massive audience, Shri Modi said that people who stay confined to the four walls and only spread lies and speak nonsense, should visit the rallies to witness the wave in India. He spoke that this was the first such election where even before the polls, the verdict had been announced by the voters.

Shri Sushil Modi, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Shri Nandkishore Yadav, Shri Upendra Khushwaha, Shri Gopal Narayan, Shri Virendra Sinh, Shri Surendra Sinha, Shri Mangal Pandey, Shri Jawahar Prasad, Shri Brij Kishore, Shri Radha Mohan, Shri Jitendra Pandey and Shri Sudhir Sharma were present on the occasion.
