Japanese Senior Vice-Minister meets Narendra Modi: Gujarat offers best climate for Japanese Cos to set up rail manufacturing units

Ahmedabad, Monday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today held a detailed discussion with Japanese delegation, led by Japan’s Senior Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Hiroshi Kajiyama, to explore setting up projects of mutual co-operation. The Japanese Minister lauded Gujarat’s contribution in growing collaboration with his country.

The meeting assumed greater significance after the success of recent Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit in collaboration with Japan, Mr. Modi’s two successful visits to Japan and Gujarat’s impressive groundwork for implementing the DMIC-DFC project. Gujarat is best place for Japanese companies to develop rail equipment manufacturing sector, besides skill development.

Japan’s Hitachi Corporation has its market in Europe. There is scope for co-operation between Japan’s expertise and experience in technology and Gujarat’s human resources, particularly in the field of education with University in Vadodara. There is also scope for developing Vadodara as engineering manufacturing hub, and Gujarat coast by Japanese companies for maritime trade with Europe.
