Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, sanctity of institutions like the Reserve Bank of India should be maintained. Shri Modi opined, “Attacks on the party I belong to, the government or on me is understandable but institutions like the RBI should not be dragged into politics. Their sanctity must be maintained.” The Prime Minister said that RBI had a major role in our country’s economy and we must contribute towards it positively.

Shri Modi further added that NDA Government had undertaken measures so that institutions like the RBI are further strengthened. “We’ve amended the RBI Act and constituted a monetary policy committee. This was long overdue. Our Government did it. No member in this committee belongs to the Central Government.”
