64 Officer Trainees of the 2014 and 2015 Batches of the Indian Foreign Service called on the Prime Minister today.

Sharing his thoughts, Prime Minister encouraged the young Officers to work towards fostering closer relations between India and the outside world; developing deeper understanding of the country of their posting; linking the Indian States with the outside world in the spirit of cooperative federalism; promoting greater people to people & cultural contacts; strengthening trade, investments and technology ties; and according greater attention to secure the interests and look after the welfare of the Indians abroad.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid homage today to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in the historic Promenade Gardens in Georgetown, Guyana. He recalled Bapu’s eternal values of peace and non-violence which continue to guide humanity. The statue was installed in commemoration of Gandhiji’s 100th birth anniversary in 1969.

Prime Minister also paid floral tribute at the Arya Samaj monument located close by. This monument was unveiled in 2011 in commemoration of 100 years of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana.
