Icreate to produce talented young entrepreneurs who would bring glory to India: Narayana Murthy

Ahmedabad, Thursday:

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today called upon the talented youth from different disciplines to join the truly world-class International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology’ (Icreate) Incubation Centre to realize their dreams and give form to their ideas.

Speaking at a function to mark the groundbreaking ceremony the novel project, he said it is to nurture and develop the boundless creativity and entrepreneurship of the youth, to spark endless energy among them.

Infosys chairman-emeritus N. R. Narayana Murthy is the chairman of the advisory board of Icreate Incubation Centre being developed in collaboration with Government of Gujarat on a 35-acre plot near Kensville Golf Club on Ahmedabad-Bavla Road about 45 km from. Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) is a partner to it.

Mr. Modi said that Icreate was launched on September 11, 2011 the day Swami Vivekanand had mesmerised America on the same day in 1893 with his brilliant speech as a spiritual leader. Icreate is Gujarat’s salute to the sansyasi.

He said the 21st Century would belong to knowledge and Gujarat would try to make India the world leader in knowledge. India would have to withstand fierce competition in socio-economic, development, skills, technology and innovations. Icreate is the answer to the challenge, to encourage original research in sync with technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Narayana Murthy said that India is fortunate to have reached a stage as never before. India is being recognised in the world forums. It is time to channelize India’s excellence in fighting poverty, unemployment, malnutrition and backwardness. Gujarat has taken 24x7 hours electricity to all the villages in the state. He exuded confidence the state would lead in entrepreneurship too.

Gujarat’s Minister of State for Energy Saurabh Patel gave details of the Icreate. Icreate Director N. V. Vasani listed the steps undertaken to invite talents to the Centre.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included IIT-Gandhinagar Director Sudhir Jain and Principal Industries Secretary M. Sahu.

PM Modi to visit Republic of Cyprus, Canada and Croatia from 15th to 19th June

​At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to Cyprus on 15-16 June, 2025. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades. While in Nicosia, Prime Minister will hold talks with President Christodoulides and address business leaders in Limassol. The visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen India’s engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.

In the second leg of his visit, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Canada, H.E. Mr. Mark Carney, Prime Minister will travel to Kananaskis in Canada on June 16-17 to participate in the G-7 Summit. This would be Prime Minister’s 6th consecutive participation in the G-7 Summit. At the Summit, Prime Minister will exchange views with leaders of G-7 countries, other invited outreach countries and Heads of International Organisations on crucial global issues, including energy security, technology and innovation, particularly the AI-energy nexus and Quantum-related issues. Prime Minister will also hold several bilateral meetings on the side-lines of the Summit.

In the final leg of his tour, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister will undertake an official visit to Croatia on 18 June 2025. This will be the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, marking an important milestone in the bilateral relationship. Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Plenković and meet the President of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Zoran Milanović. The visit to Croatia will also underscore India's commitment to further strengthening its engagement with partners in the European Union.
