Hon'ble CM talks to 3000-odd govt. officials on Gunotsav-2010

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today called upon 3000-odd government officials to work with their best in bringing a qualitative change in the fields like education and health and thus making Gunotsav, state government's mission to vitalize administration, a success.

Chief Minister said that government administration spend most of its time in handling files and in meetings, but go out and in people to know their culture, also give motivation. Results, Gujarat has achieved in last decade, is an example of the miraculous success that can be achieved with the pre-planning and total commitment to pro-people programs, he said.

First program of Gunotsav in the field of education has filled the gap of past 30 years. Contribution of each government employee is crucial as their work, if done in completeness can bring turnaround results, he said.

Chief Minister pointed out that drop-out ratio in primary school has been reduced to two percent only with the campaigns like 'kanya kelavani'. This, he said, is something that government mechanism can take proud of.

Initiatives like Gunotsav will take government administration to villages and will link 'government files' with 'human life', Chief Minister said.

Shri Hasmukh Adhiya, Principal Secretary, Education Department, said that around 3000 officials of class-1 and class-2 cadre are participating in 'Gunotsav' program during December 9 to 11. It is the program in the right line as it has brought good results. Out of 32,000 primary schools in Gujarat, 9,000 have got grading rating, he said.

Secretary to Primary Education Shri R.P.Gupta said that Gunotsav has acted like catalyst and brought both quantitative and qualitative changes in primary education. Gunotsav held during previous year traced poor results among 25-lakh students in primary schools. Rectification programs, then, were carried out which had changed the performance of around 85% of students, he said.

Smt.Vijyalakshmi Joshi, Principal Secretary to Health Department, gave details of 'School Health Checkup' program and said that it will cover more than 1.5-crore children in the state and around 3,03,888 health officials will give their services.

Meeting held in Town-Hall witnessed the presence of Education Minister Shri Ramanlal Vora, Health Minister Shri Jaynarayanbhai Vyas, Minister of State for Health Shri Parbatbhai Patel, Minister of State for Education Shri Jaysinhbhai Chauhan, Smt. Vasuben Trivedi, Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Joti and other cabinet members.
