A record 530 PSIs, including 68 women, pass-out of Gujarat Police Academy

Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Chief Minister Narendra Modi today took guard of honour at the impressive passing-out parade of record 530 Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), including 68 women, at the Gujarat Police Academy at Karai. The occasion was the conclusion of their selection through a transparent procedure after a one-year training course.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi exhorted the fresh batch of police officers to accept the challenge and onerous duty of ensuring safety and security of the society in the role of ‘Policemen as Friends of the People’. He said that the Police Force in Gujarat is the most efficient and best equipped to deal with the most difficult situations.

While the nation is seized with such internal security problems as terrorism and Naxalism, he said, the pattern of crime has undergone sea change with application of technology in the changed circumstances. He said the responsibility of uniformed men too has increased manifold with round-the-clock duty, stress and strain, and risk to life associated with the job, but at the same time maintaining a humane approach to the situation.

The Chief Minister has asked the State Home Department to develop a 100-hour module in collaboration with Rakshashakti University in which each trained police officer would serve as mentor to junior colleagues and constables for 18-months.

Mr. Modi presented prizes for different categories, such as ‘sword-of-honour to Alkesh Patel, best outdoor performance to Mahendra Sabuke, indoor performance to Shaktisinh Gohil, best shooter to Pritvirajsinh Jadeja, best athlete to Hardik Parmar and Rinaben Rathod and best commander prize to Mayurdhwajsinh Sarvaiyya.

He inaugurated on the occasion and ports complex and a swimming pool for the trainees at the Police Academy.

Gujarat Police Academy Director A.K. Singh in his welcome address said that it was for the first time in the history of Gujarat that as many as 530 PSIs, including 68 women, passed out in one batch. They were imparted training in latest technology with scientific approach for combat situations.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Minister of State for Home Praful Patel, Additional Chief Secretary Home Varesh Sinha, Academy’s Joint Director K.D. Patadia and senior officers, besides family members of the officers.

Drone survey already completed in 92% of targeted villages
Around 2.2 crore property cards prepared

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will distribute over 50 lakh property cards under SVAMITVA Scheme to property owners in over 46,000 villages in 200 districts across 10 States and 2 Union territories on 27th December at around 12:30 PM through video conferencing.

SVAMITVA scheme was launched by Prime Minister with a vision to enhance the economic progress of rural India by providing ‘Record of Rights’ to households possessing houses in inhabited areas in villages through the latest surveying drone technology.

The scheme also helps facilitate monetization of properties and enabling institutional credit through bank loans; reducing property-related disputes; facilitating better assessment of properties and property tax in rural areas and enabling comprehensive village-level planning.

Drone survey has been completed in over 3.1 lakh villages, which covers 92% of the targeted villages. So far, around 2.2 crore property cards have been prepared for nearly 1.5 lakh villages.

The scheme has reached full saturation in Tripura, Goa, Uttarakhand and Haryana. Drone survey has been completed in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh and also in several Union Territories.
