On Tuesday 20th August 2013 Shri Narendra Modi celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan in Gandhinagar. Over 5,000 women belonging to different parts of India as well as various countries of the world met Shri Modi and tied Rakhis to the Chief Minister. Shri Modi extended his best wishes to all the women across India and also called for affirming on this day to protect Bharat Mata.

Shri Modi observed, “I have experienced that while serving the society and the nation I am protected by the Kavach (cover) of Strength given by the women of India. Due to this I can overcome various challenges. Also I am inspired to serve the poorest of the poor, the marginalized. I extend my gratitude to the women of India.”

He further said, “For the last few days Pakistan and China are attacking our Nation and our Jawans. If we are not able to protect them (our Jawans) then how can they protect our nation? On this day, let us affirm to protect our Bharat Mata.”

The Chief Minister took on the UPA over the prevailing economic situation in the country. He described it as a grave concern and said that no one thought such a huge mess would be created. He went on to say that there is a lack of confidence in the leadership and that the current leadership in the Centre only cares about staying in power instead of strengthening the Rupee. Shri Modi avowed that for the last five years the nation has been hearing inflation would come down but that has not happened.

Earlier in the morning Shri Modi Tweeted, Happy Rakshabandhan! This festival celebrates the everlasting bond between a sister & brother & epitomizes social harmony & Rashtra Shakti.
