Cabinet approves continuation of supply of free Fortified Rice under PMGKY and other welfare schemes from July 2024 to December 2028

Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the continuation of the universal supply of Fortified Rice under all schemes of the Government including Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) and Other Welfare Schemes etc. in its present form, from July 2024 and upto December 2028. The rice fortification initiative will continue as a central sector initiative with 100% funding by the Government of India as part of PMGKAY (Food Subsidy), thus providing a unified institutional mechanism for implementation.

PM to Chair 7th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog on 7 August

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will chair the seventh meeting of the Governing Council at Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre, New Delhi. The agenda of the meeting, interalia, includes crop persification and achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds and pulses and agri-communities; implementation of the National Education Policy–school education; implementation of the National Education Policy–higher education; and urban governance.

Cabinet approves distribution of fortified rice across Government Schemes

CCEA chaired by PM Modi has accorded its approval for supply of fortified rice. Fortification will provide nutrition to every poor person of the country to overcome malnutrition and lack of essential nutrients in women, children, lactating mothers. Entire cost of rice fortification (around Rs. 2,700 crore per annum) would be borne by the Govt. of India.
