Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Prime Minister of Lao PDR H.E. Mr. Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane. They discussed various areas of bilateral cooperation such as development partnership, capacity building, disaster management, renewable energy, heritage restoration, economic ties, defence collaboration, and people-to-people ties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 19th East Asia Summit held in Vientiane, Lao PDR. He stated that India has always supported ASEAN’s unity and centrality. Emphasizing that our focus should be on development, not expansionism, the Prime Minister highlighted in his address that the East Asia Summit is a key pillar of India’s Act East Policy.

In his address, the PM stressed on ASEAN's central role in the Indo-Pacific regional architecture, in India’s Indo-Pacific Vision and in Quad cooperation.
