At the joint press meet with President Ibrahim Solih, PM Modi thanked Malpes for the highest honour for foreign dignitary, stating it to be an honour for every Indian. PM Modi spoke about strengthening the partnership between the two countries, with focus on business, ports, cleanliness, sports, fishery, agriculture and tourism. PM Narendra Modi will be visiting Malpes and Sri Lanka on 08-09 June 2019 at the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and President Maithripala Sirisena, respectively. This will be the PM's first overseas visit after his re-election.
