Cabinet approves two multitracking projects across Indian Railways covering various states

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, has approved Koderma – Barkakana Doubling and Ballari – Chikjajur Doubling projects of Ministry of Railways with total cost of Rs. 6,405 crore. These initiatives will improve travel convenience, reduce logistic cost, decrease oil imports and contribute to lower CO2 emissions, supporting sustainable and efficient rail operations and generate employment.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by PM Modi has approved the increase in the MSP for 14 Kharif Crops for Marketing Season 2025-26. The increase in MSP is in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 announcement of fixing the MSP at a level of at least 1.5 times of the All-India weighted average cost of production.

The Cabinet, led by PM Modi, approved four key rail multitracking projects worth ₹18,658 crore across Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, adding 1,247 km by 2030-31. These projects will boost freight capacity, ease congestion, enhance connectivity for 47 lakh people, generate 379 lakh jobs, and cut CO₂ emissions, driving economic growth.

The tentative budgetary requirement for above would be approximately upto Rs. 3,850 cr.
