India’s “Concert Economy”: A Rising Entertainment Powerhouse on the Road to the 2036 Olympics

For years, India lacked the necessary infrastructure to host large-scale international concerts. While Bollywood music thrived domestically, the global concert culture largely bypassed India due to inadequate venues, bureaucratic challenges, and logistical hurdles. Unlike cities such as London, New York, or Singapore, India struggled to attract international artists because of a lack of world-class stadiums, difficulties in obtaining event permissions, and unorganized event management. Even when global stars did perform, concerts often suffered from poor crowd control, sanitation issues, and technical failures, leaving both artists and audiences dissatisfied.
