PM Modi’s Southern Sojourn encompassed an action-packed tour of the three states of Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. He inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various projects across sectors of infrastructure, tourism, and health among others totalling about Rs. 19,000 crores. PM Modi visited the Bandipur and Mudumalai Tiger Reserves in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He also visited the Theppakadu Elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve where he interacted with mahouts and kavadis and also fed the elephants. PM Modi inaugurated a programme commemorating of 50 years of Project Tiger at Mysuru. The PM expressed happiness that India is home to 75% of the world’s tiger population in the 75th year of Indian independence.
