In his address the PM listed out India’s deep rooted ties with Africa adding that Uganda was central to India’s commitment to the continent. He said, “For India, the moral principles of independence movement were not just confined to the boundaries of India. It was a universal quest for liberty, dignity, equality and opportunity for every human being. Nowhere did it apply more than in Africa.”

Speaking at the inauguration of the Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank, PM Narendra Modi expounded about India’s strong ties with Africa. The PM said that India’s partnership with Africa was based on a model of cooperation which is responsive to the needs of African countries. Rolling out his vision of a new India, the PM said, “Our aim is that India must be an engine of growth as well as an example in climate friendly development in the years to come.”
