Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned in Hosur and Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Beginning his address, he said that a third alternative had emerged in front of people in the form of Bharatiya Janata Party. Urging people of the state to vote for BJP, Shri Modi said that the party wanted to take the state to newer heights of progress.

He said that upcoming state elections were about protecting Tamil Nadu from the vicious trap of corruption. “Tamil Nadu has been gripped in corruption. Our aim is to free the state from corruption. We want a prosperous Tamil Nadu where the youth gets opportunities.”

Talking about the 2G spectrum scam, he mentioned about how it involved leaders from prominent parties. “Prominent state leaders were involved 2G scam while we are working towards Digital India. Money from the recent coal auctions have been utilised to serve the poorest of the poor, unlike the past when money was looted”, he added.

The Prime Minister spoke at length about several initiatives of the NDA Government at Centre aimed at welfare of the poor. “Earlier poor farmers had to purchase urea from the black market. But this has now changed. We took the decision of neem-coating the urea that is benefitting the farmers”, he added. He also mentioned about elimination of interviews for Group C, D and non-gazetted government jobs that would benefit the youth in large numbers.

Hitting out at previous UPA government at centre, Shri Modi alleged that they were indulged in corruption. “Even Italian courts have stated that previous UPA government was found involved in chopper scam and corruption. They must be punished for looting people’s money”, he added.

The PM shed light on numerous Government initiatives that were now transforming lives of the poor and the marginalised. He spoke about the Mudra Yojana, Start-Up India and Stand-Up India that were bringing about a positive change in the lives of several budding entrepreneurs in the entire country. He also highlighted how the ‘Give it Up’ campaign was running successfully and over a crore people gave up their LPG subsidy willingly. Several Party karyakartas and BJP Tamil Nadu leaders were present at the occasion.
